Outside Lands (Outsidelands?) Music Festival lineup is here!
Who do you wanna see? Check out the San Francisco Outside Lands full lineup.
As a good San Franciscan and having lived literally next door to the Festival for the first 4 years (having even camped since 6am one year to make sure I saw the Dave Matthews Band from the first row), it’s a no brainer to be used to going all 3 days every year. I was extremely disappointed when I was online at 12pm sharp just to find out that the “Eager Beaver” tickets were sold out in less than 10 seconds (just to find them all later for more $$$ on StubHub #FAIL).
When I saw the lineup today, though, I was a bit relieved. I have always preferred the Rolling Stones over the Beatles, and don’t really care for seeing Paul McCartney live. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers are great in concert, but I’ve seen them live before, so nothing exciting there. I have never seen Nine Inch Nails and I’m not really familiar with their songs, but I’m open to checking them out by the few songs I know.
Some less know acts that I’m actually more excited about are artists like Gary Clark Jr. I had never heard of him, until the other day when I heard on the radio they were having a contest to win a trip to go see him live, and I was like “who the hell is this guy?”. Later in the day, my good friend Martin from England, who has a great taste in music (at least it matches mine 🙂 and has recommended me many bands before posted on his Facebook page:
“Every now and then an album comes out of nowhere and kicks you right in the nuts. Take a bow, Gary Clark Jr. I’d ignored you because your name wasn’t very rock n roll, but that’s been rectified now. Texas blues, soul, old fashioned r and b, there’s a lot going on and what a voice. I’ll be interested to see how his career pans out.”
Ok, now I have to give it a try! I “ran over” to Spotify, typed in his name and was hooked from the start! My first thought was: “This guys must be great to see live!”.
Trombone Shorty & Orlean Avenue is always a good time, Wavves should be good if you like surf music, and of course, I wouldn’t miss Willie Nelson and Jurassic 5 (not playing together, although that wold be kinda cool).
Maybe this will be the year that I will finally be able to see a famous DJ, as they are always competing with the headliners and I never get to enjoy them. Kaskade sounds like a fun time.
This is it for now, but we will be talking about the OSL food and about the second weekend of Coachella on the upcoming posts.
